Is anyone else obsessed with bathing? Baths are one of the most therapeutic, easy-to-do, wellness staples to introduce to your routine! Today, we’re sharing three of our favorite ways to unwind a la tub. Warm water, a few natural ingredients, (a bathtub, of course), and you’re ready to go!
Chlorophyll Detox
What you need:
- 1 large scoop of our Ultra Chlorophyll Mask
- 1-2 cups of Epsom Salt
We did a post a while back on how to make your own Chlorophyll bath bombs – but this is an even simpler way to detox head-to-toe! Taking our chlorophyll bath is one of our all-time favorite beauty hacks – especially when using our Ultra Chlorophyll Mask!
Chlorophyll is chock full of good stuff (I mean, it is what makes the plants green!). It’s super rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, as well as folic acid, iron, calcium, and protein! This biomolecule is also a significant source of magnesium, which helps deliver oxygen to your tissues and cells, and therefore increase circulation. Not to mention, the magnesium will help you detox and relax! These are just a few of the many, many reasons that we love chlorophyll!
We like to also add Epsom salts to the bath to help the chlorophyll further draw out impurities, reduce inflammation, and relax our overworked muscles (and minds)!
Coconut Milk Rose Soak
What you need:
- 1-2 cans of full-fat coconut milk
- 2 TBSP of our Rosewater Facial Toner
- Fresh roses
We’ve definitely all dreamed of soaking in a milk bath at one point or another…right? Coconut milk is rich in vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins E, C, B1, B3, B5, and B6! As the skin is the body’s largest organ, you’ll be soaking in all of these wonderful benefits! The high fat content of coconut milk will also leave you silky, smooth, and moisturized. This will feel especially good if you have sun-damaged or irritated skin. The milk will help to soothe and repair the skin while removing harmful bacteria. This bath is the perfect way to end those warm spring and summer days!
Our pure rose hydrosol will help to calm inflammation, balance out the skin’s complexion, and pH balance the skin all over! Plus, it smells heavenly. Adding some fresh rose petals to the bath will turn your evening bath into a night at the spa.
Charcoal + Salt Detox
What you need:
- 2 teaspoons of activated charcoal
- 2 cups Epsom Salts
- 10 drops essential oils (optional)
Epsom Salts have been used as a natural remedy for hundreds of years – but few people know the actual benefits of taking an Epsom Salts bath…and that it’s not actually a salt! In water, Epsom Salts break down into magnesium and sulfate, which can help is known to help relieve muscle soreness, improve circulation, clear up headaches, and hydrate the skin. Epsom Salts, mixed with the comforting aroma of an essential oil of your choosing (we recommend lavender or peppermint) is sure to soothe you after the longest of days.
Activated charcoal is able to pull out toxins and heavy metals from your tissues to detoxify the body from the outside in! If you’re feeling bloated or had a few too many drinks the night prior, charcoal is a great detox ingredient for you right about now!
A few notes on detox baths:
It’s important to take care of your body before, during, and after a detox bath. The heat from the bath, especially if you like your baths extra hot, can be overwhelming and dehydrating! Furthermore, the whole “detox” part of these baths is that the ingredients you use help to draw toxins out of your muscles and body. The detoxification process can be exhausting, just like when you get a deep massage to release toxins from the muscles!
When you’re taking the bath, it’s important to stay hydrated to help flush those toxins all the way out. Drink a large glass of water before your bath to start your body off right, and continue drinking water during and after.
You may feel extremely exhausted after your bath! Some detox pros recommend the “sweat and rest” method post-detox. This entails going straight from the bath to your bed, wrapping up in a towel and sheets, and sweating it out for at least 20 minutes. If you’re extra sensitive to heat, this can be a little much.
Ultimately, you should listen to your body and do whatever feels good to you post-bath! Aim to detox in the evening when you don’t have much else to do. Whether you’re hitting the sheets right after or taking a cold shower to cool off, your body is bound to be worn out.
